Valentine's Day with Deadpool!

not your friendly neighbor, not at all
but still a good guy all in all
first impression he might be like a fool
but he's still cool because he's Deadpool!

I'm not up for any Valentine's date or whatever, because as we all now I'm somewhat the single, bitter, just-jealous-because-she-doesnt-have-a-date person but turns out Valentine's has always been good to me, even though I'm always not looking forward to it.

Valentine's Day are generally for people 'in love' but love doesn't always have to be romantic.
Like today, I had the Valentine's Day spent with my siblings and we had a Deadpool movie date which is just great!

My sister already watched it once, but the rest of us haven't so it's still a good deal, and since my older brother and I are both the 'nerds', HOORAAY FOR ANOTHER ADDITION TO MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE!!!

I don't know about the movie rating of this on other countries, but in the Philippines it is a 'R-16' film, which means that kids under 16 years old is not allowed to go in. It is actually a very big deal because in some cinemas they really block suspicious kids (those that are under 16) and ask them what their birthdays are. These cinema staffs are seriously frightening.

And as much as I feel bad for kids who wanted to watch it because it is a Marvel movie and it's Deadpool, still, you guys really have to wait til you are old enough because there are really explicit scenes in this film.

Do not get fooled with posters like this:

Going back....
Well, we all know that Deadpool is a bad ass, but how bad ass is he? He is a bad ass fighter like Wolverine but he is also this humorous guy more than Spiderman and Star Lord could ever be. Like yea, dirty jokes here and there and great puns!

What you should really look forward to this movie is the appearance of Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (you should never underestimate Warhead) they are like the connection of how Deadpool is connected will all this Marvel shenanigans.

(We all know that they somehow connected the Avengers through Nick Fury and Natasha Romanoff who were featured in different superhero films that comprises the Avengers... and if we're not talking about the actual MCU, we would know through Stan Lee's cameos | a huge exemption to Spiderman trilogy and reboots because we all know how that goes down)

Another thing that you should look forward to this movie is the familiar tune from the OST, if that's what we should call them.
I think it's becoming a trend already, after Star Lord of 'Guardians of the Galaxy', and it makes the audience relate more to the movie soooooooo....

If I were to rate this Marvel Hero | movie... I would say he would be atleast on my top 10, just below Star Lord. ;)

The movie is quite short if you ask me, though it might be because of the sequences that made it look like it was short or maybe it's because of the plot (because if you ask me, the plot is a little shallow) but then it's only an introductory movie so I'm looking forward to more Marvel movies with Deadpool.

It's That Time of the Year Uh-gain

movies, movies on the wall
which of you are the greatest of them all?

It's that time of the year again where people would spend money on watching the movie entries for the Metro Manila Film Festival. It has been a tradition that every Christmas people would line up for the roster of films in the cinemas. Before I don't really get how the people garnered patience waiting on long lines nor why would they watch a film right after Christmas Day, maybe because it's a trend? a tradition?

Now? I still don't get why... but I'm still giving it a chance.

movie entries for the Metro Manila Film Festival 2015

Being a media student, instructors and professors repeatedly tells us about the importance of supporting local films and I get that. There are some local films that are beyond exceptions and is beautifully made. There are film festivals that also interests me (Cinemalaya) because of the (indie) movies that are featured, but I think that Metro Manila Film Festival roster of movies just strips of that purpose.

Okay, okay! I am not hating on the whole of the MMFF!
I was just pointing the mere fact that SOME of the films seemed rushed and basically an advertisement because of all the brand and product inserts in the whole of the film (and I am not pointing out anything here, alright?), thus resulting to low quality films and storyline that are just plain bad. It just seems like they are entering the movie for the MMFF because of the booming sales it begets.
(I repeat, I am not hating on ALL the entries. I know some of them are really planned out and producers really deliberated on them for some time. And I also acknowledge that film-making is a difficult thing to do.)

I haven't really watched all of them but I am trying to to have an unbiased review among the films and I just wish that the others are unlike the movies I have already watched or that one movie that I am avoiding to watch because of the many negative reviews.

Let's just say, I'm starting the new year with this post.

THE UNWINDING GUITAR PLAYER

when things get hard, think of happy thoughts
when you can't find any good song, sing a happy song
when you can't find a voice to sing, hum any tune
when you find it hard to see good, listen to the birds sing

Since all my plans have been cancelled today (Yay!!!! NOT!), I've got time to actually do things that doesn't stress me out a bit... and that would be playing my guitar!

(Don't get me wrong, I'm not the very serious type of guitar player nor am I very good at it. What I'm saying is that I'm a fair player, know a chord here and there.)

My brother had been practicing playing guitar because he thinks it's cool and since we have a guitar (my guitar) available at home.. why not? And since he's at school right now and I have all my plans cancelled for today. I think it's time to give my guitar some love.

Here are some of the unwinding, easy and enjoyable songs to play on your guitar. (Not very extensive, just some easy breezy songs that I like to play and sing when I need to relieve stress):

1. Can't Help Falling in Love with You - Elvis Presley

Tabs gotten from: ultimate-guitar.com

2. Leaving on a Jet Plane - John Denver

Tabs gotten from: ultimate-guitar.com

and since I'm a Filipino, and if you are a Filipino, you know that we all love this song
3. Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko - Rey Valera

Tabs gotten from: ultimate-guitar.com

So, there! That's your easy, breezy songs when you want to unwind.
It's all a very good song to uplift every mood and also can be played on the guitar easily (if you don't have enough skills like me)

WHEN SLEEPING AT NIGHT IS HARD

acoustic, pop, r and b and blues
no matter what music I choose
I can't seem to be in a trance
is there any chance?
To sleep without difficulty
Anything I will do to sleep peacefully again

An unlikely post, I know, but these days sleep just doesn't come to me and it's kind of frustrating at the same time tiring.
Sleeping patterns tend to change every time there's a change on your schedule but I've been finding it difficult to sleep at night since several years ago.
I even had insomnia that one whole year and I don't even know how I got through it and to be honest, I don't even know if I still have it.

Maybe because it's because of stress, or something else (maybe the room is too hot (or cold), there's too much light, the room is humid or whatnot) but nevertheless, I'm still looking for ways to change my sleeping pattern and will keep at it before the new semesters strikes.

Some possible things that will help get sleep at night:
  • supplements (this I take everyday, especially when I know I'm losing too much sleep)
  • drinking a glass of water before going to bed (especially in summer)
  • wearing a sleep mask (even though I find it hard to see when it's dark, I still use it for convenience, especially when my sister suddenly opens the light when she needs to take the loo)
  • shifting pillows (or sometimes I don't use any head pillow to straighten my back, or so I thought, nevertheless I find it calmly to lay flat in my bed)
  • listening to calming music a few minutes before going into bed'
  • not taking a nap in daylight (so I'll be exhausted at night that I would get to sleep right away)
  • waking up early (so I'll be exhausted at night that I would get to sleep right away)
But these are just a few things that I think would help get sleep (it may work on you or not, because some of these rarely works on me as well).

It's actually hard to have a good night sleep, but I long for the day when I wake up and not feel exhausted all day.
It's not that I don't want to sleep (because trust me, I love sleeping) it's just that, sleep doesn't come to me like a bullet train.

NEW BLOG ON POINT

Being a minimalist, I tried.
Containing everything in one place, I tried.
Staying on one topic, I tried
You may say I don't try hard enough but I tried.

Okay! Enough!
What I'm trying to say here is... WELCOME TO MY NEW BLOG!

In case you don't know me from my other blogs (which I have privatized and kept under the rag), I just simply blog about everything, actually.
I started doing a journal-type of blog which I have maintained throughout my Junior and Senior Year of high school, and then I had this personal-type of blog where I post basically everything (It's very messy, trust me).
Plus, that one blog I was required to do for a course subject (tucked in and kept, as well)

At this moment, I have other two blogs that I maintain (aside from this 'new blog')
I have a book-blog namely, "BOOKS AND RAINDROPS"
and I have an asian drama/soundtrack blog namely, "JEONGMALCHOOA"
(yea, yea, I have a keen talent for naming things, psh)

If you checked the other two blogs above, you may notice that somehow it's more of an objective type of blogging (though I know both of them are opinion-based blogs, but you know what I mean). And I can't live with objective blogging all my life, so I have to have another blog which I can be more casual in.

(This will go to my 'About' section)

This blog is named after my penname, "Sleepy Potterhead", and with that saying I want to keep a personal contact on this blog which will not only feature what the works of my mind are but also the emotions that I keep, if there is anything (because apparently, they say I am a robot)

"sleepypotterhead" is a very sentimental name for me, not only because of how I got it, but also because it pertains to what I am as a whole. It treasures my personality, if saying that makes it a lot easier to take in.

Basically, "Sentiments of Sleepy Potterhead" is an opinion-based blog on various things that I am interested in. As to keep things in order I would do my best to stay on the line of these few topics/categories that I am going to blog about:

  • TV Shows
  • Movies
  • Personal (this may be include thoughts, quotes, and all the shenanigans that I don't have a category for)
  • On the Street (may contain a lot of photos, basically it's when I'm on the road, but that rarely happens)
  • The Filipino Way (because I am a Filipino and there is no way that my blog won't contain anything Filipino)
of course, there's no more asian drama/songs and books involved because I have a different blog that focuses on that.

And with that said, I will be leaving this blog for furnishing and post-adding.

Truly Yours,
sleepypotterhead
